United Spirits, India's largest spirits major, is going through a consolidation phase after a series of steps to deleverage and to further cement its emerging stature in the global spirits market.

BANGALORE: Vijay Mallya-led liquor company United Spirits has set up a grape spirit plant at Baramati, Maharashtra, as part of a plan to build supply-side security for spirits.

BANGALORE: Brandy, a spirit mostly made of grapes, is getting a makeover with liquor marketers scurrying to introduce higher-priced brandies to meet booming demand.

In the last 14 months, half a dozen new vodka brands have hit the shelves in India, a market that has conventionally favoured brown drinks such as whiskey and rum.
